THE DARKEST DARK

Canadian astronaut Commander Chris Hadfield’s children’s book, The Darkest Dark, had barely been on shelves before a live theatrical adaptation was proposed.

The challenge was how to take a short kid’s book about a boy overcoming his fear of the dark, and create an entire full length theatrical experience.

Working closely with Hadfield, as well as Toronto theatre icon Jim Millan (Crow’s Theatre, Kids In The Hall Live) we crafted a multi-media adventure combining comedy, stage magic, puppetry, cottage adventures, and so much heart.

The play went on to garner six nominations and win two awards at the Dora Mavor Moore Awards, including Outstanding Production - Theatre For Young Audiences, and Outstanding Achievement in Design - Theatre For Young Audiences.
